Platen Presses

Platen presses originated about 1830 in the United States of America. Small, compact, not expensive easy and to operate, they served above all to adress the ever-increasing demand for business and social printing ('job work') quickly and profitably. Of the four basic kinds - Gordon, Galley, Boston and Liberty - the first three can be seen in the Museum.
