Typography in Contemporary Art

May, 8th – July, 17th 2011
Opening: May, 6th, 2011, 7 p.m.

“Typography in Contemporary Art” invites around 40 artists who deal with type and typography in their work. The exhibition includes a wide range of genres, such as drawings, book and paper art, photography, sculpture, multimedia, installation, graffiti and public art.

The ambition of this exhibition project is to show the omnipresent existence of lettering in daily life and its influence on public perception. Typography and lettering in context of art opens quite a new perspective to the topic - for laymen, art connoisseurs, as well as professionals in graphic design.

The supporting program involves guided tours and workshops for pupils and students.

Some in the exhibition non-presentable and continuative topics of the exhibition will be discussed at the 17th “Leipziger Typotage” on May, 28th 2011 by artists, designers and psychologists.
